AI Sewing Tip#2: Testing Fabrics with a Pattern

This is the second post in a series of ways to use AI with sewing as a useful tool.

Go to your AI tool.  I use Microsoft copilot

Type in the following prompt:

Take 3 of the Liberty Tana Lawn fabric prints found on Stitchhappens.ca. Overlay them onto the Love Notions Bluegrass Button-down line drawing. Render them side by side at low resolution (low-res helps it go a LOT faster).

You can find the line drawing here and copy the image to insert it into the chat box.

The outcome:

Next prompt:

Render the image again but make it with the sleeveless version of the top.

Conclusion:

While you do have to remember that it will not be perfect, you will still get a reasonable facsimile that you can use to make fabric selections (the birds in the image definitely look odd lol).

You can take pictures of fabrics that you already have in your stash, or while you are out shopping. Or, find specific fabric images online and use those.

Happy playing and please share any visualizations that you create!
